Frequently asked questions

Common questions about using StoryCharter.

What is StoryCharter?

StoryCharter is a platform for creating, exploring, and sharing timelines. Create chronological overviews for fictional universes, historical events, games, books, movies, and any other topic where the order of events matters.

Is StoryCharter free?

Yes. StoryCharter is currently free to use.

Do I need an account to use StoryCharter?

No. You can browse and create timelines without an account. An account allows you to manage your own timelines better. With an account you can continue editing without relying on an edit link.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Account deletion is immediate and permanent. Your account information is removed, but timelines you created are not automatically deleted. If you want to remove your timelines, delete them before deleting your account.

What is an edit link?

Timelines created by people who are not logged in have no owner. These timelines can only be edited using an edit link. Make sure to store the edit link safely!

What happens if I lose my edit link?

Without an account, timelines cannot be recovered without the edit link. We recommend creating an account. Timelines created by people who are logged in have an owner and you can find your timelines via the "My Timelines" page.

I created a timeline without an account, can I claim and own it?

Yes! Logged in users have the ability to claim unowned timelines if they have the edit link.

What content is allowed?

StoryCharter is for timelines that document and explain events over time. Most topics are allowed, including fictional stories, history, science, culture, and other subjects. Content should not be used to promote harmful activities, hate, explicit sexual material, or illegal goods. Sensitive topics such as violence, drugs, or weapons may be covered when presented in a historical, educational, fictional, or analytical context. Linked imagery should not contain graphic content, pornography, nudism, promotions or hatred.

How do I report a timeline?

If you believe a timeline violates our guidelines or contains copyrighted material that should be removed, contact us at contact@storycharter.com with the timeline URL and details.

Are images hosted by StoryCharter?

Currently, StoryCharter does not host uploaded images. Users may reference external images from the following hosts: imglink.cc and catbox.moe. StoryCharter currently only supports these hosts because these providers are designed for direct image sharing and allow us to avoid loading unnecessary third-party content when viewing timelines.
