What information do we collect?
When you create a StoryCharter account, we collect your email address and basic account information needed to provide the service, such as account creation date and activity information related to your account.
If you choose to sign in through a third-party provider such as Google, we receive the information required to create your account, such as your email address.
We do not collect sensitive personal information such as biometric data, precise location data, or personal browsing history.
Passwords are handled securely through our authentication provider. StoryCharter does not have access to your actual password.
How do we use your information?
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Authenticate your login
- Provide account-related features
- Send essential service emails, such as email verification and password recovery
We do not send marketing emails or sell your email address.
Do we share your information?
We do not sell personal information.
We only share information with service providers necessary to operate StoryCharter, such as hosting, authentication, and email providers. These services only receive the information required to provide their function.
We may disclose information if required to comply with legal obligations or protect the rights and safety of users and the platform.
Cookies and analytics
StoryCharter uses cookies and similar technologies to provide account authentication, maintain security, and ensure the website functions properly. StoryCharter uses analytics tools to understand how visitors use the website, measure traffic, and improve the service. StoryCharter uses advertising services to display advertisements and measure their effectiveness.
Timeline images may be loaded from approved third-party image providers. StoryCharter limits supported image providers to reduce unnecessary third-party requests and improve privacy and reliability.
Deleting your account
You may permanently delete your StoryCharter account.
When an account is deleted:
- Your account information is removed.
- Your created timelines are not automatically deleted and may remain available as unowned timelines unless removed beforehand.
- Information connected to moderation or abuse reports may be retained where necessary to protect the platform and prevent repeated abuse.
User content and copyright
StoryCharter allows users to create timelines based on their own knowledge, research, and interpretation of events.
Users are responsible for ensuring that their contributions respect applicable copyright and intellectual property rights.
StoryCharter does not host user-uploaded images. Users may reference external content, but are responsible for ensuring that their use of third-party material is appropriate.
Some timelines may contain transformative, educational, historical, analytical, or commentary-based content. Such uses may qualify as fair use or similar exceptions depending on jurisdiction.
Copyright removal requests
If you believe content on StoryCharter infringes your copyright, please contact us at: contact@storycharter.com
Please include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work
- Identification of the material you believe infringes your rights
- Your contact information
- A statement that you believe the use is unauthorized
- A statement that the information provided is accurate
- Your signature or equivalent confirmation
We will review legitimate copyright concerns and take appropriate action.
Content guidelines
StoryCharter is intended for timelines that document and explain events. Most subjects are allowed, including fictional works, history, science, culture, and other topics.
Content may be removed if it primarily promotes harmful activities, hate, explicit sexual material, illegal goods, or other content that violates our guidelines.
Sensitive topics such as violence, drugs, or weapons may be discussed when presented in a historical, educational, fictional, or analytical context.
